Side trip
Zakynthos City
Unfortunately, the city was completely destroyed by an earthquake. However, the harbor was rebuilt to its historical appearance.
The small town is very lively in the evening. There are plenty of bars and taverns here. Early in the morning, fishermen sell their freshly caught fish on the promenade. There is also a local fruit and vegetable market three times a week at the large ferry harbor.
From the top of the mountain you have a beautiful view of the city and the bay.
Best time:
Full-time
Cost:
free, the bars on the mountain are a bit more expensive
Our tip:
Finding a parking space in the small town is an adventure. This is easiest at the harbor. If you have struggled through the small streets and haven't found one, you should use a parking service for a small fee. You hand in the car keys there and pay afterwards.
--------
If you want to enjoy a view of the city and the harbor in addition to the city's sights, walk up the street/stairs to the viewing point at the church on the mountain. There are cafes up there. The prices up there are high! We advise against driving up the mountain by car. There are no parking spaces here.
